    Hi guys,

I have launched a few sites in the past and use full white hat SEO providers and had various success and failures and as with all services is really hit and miss sometimes.

I am looking to launch 6 new sites in the next month or so that are mainly all in the same niche although have enough variances to warrant individual sites.

I suppose i am looking to all you experienced SEO guys out there for a little guidance on the below questions.

    1) Is back linking the best way to get up the serps and if so how many is too many for a new site as i don’t want to get penalized

    2) are there any new techniques that have come about over the last 6 months that are working with google and yahoo!?

    3) any other tips or trick you or guidance you guys could give to me?

Thanks a mil for reading and any advice you can give !!

    Marc

@ 1) Back links are the best way to get up in SERPs. I do not know how many is too much even though i do not thinks is a limit for back links.
Try to get backlinks from different sites, or blogs. Stay away from instant approval directories. If you want to submit you site to web directories look for clean directories(dmoz is one of the best web directories, it's free and google is the owner ;))
@ 3) Try to get back links from sites that are in the same niche with yours. In the anchor text of the url you should use a keyword, this will help you get a good pisition on SERPs for that keyword.

    Good luck!

    1) Yes backlinking will get you into the serps and it is not just the backlinks you need but the backlinks with your targeted keyword as Anchor text. If you are running on a new domain i think as a starter, an average of 15-30 links per day would be good. Always remember to be consistent in link building.
    2) No matter what new techniques are imposed, finally all that matter is backlinks. Be creative and smart and know your strategies. Avoid as much as 1 hop links. These days link wheeling has boosted a dramatic change in the serps for most of the webmasters.
    3) Always stick onto whitehat and not blackhat. Blackhat is not good for longrun. Always be consistent on your backlinking strategy. Do not only focus on climbing the serps but also do focus on your content coz even if you had made to position 1 and you receive a bad bounce rate and that could alone make a fall on your serps so just have good contents with easy navigation to your users.

Hope it helps and best of luck to your future.

SEOSrilanka thanks a mil for your input, so no more than 30 per day should be safe and not gain any penalties. would that be in total for the site or for each keyword? The sites are well designed and should offer a good customer experience that should result in a low( i hope!) bounce rate

I was not specific to 30, what i really meant was don't just blast links with your brand new site. And ye around 30 mark would no harm and if you are talking about penalty, what is it exactly? I don't think Google will just de-index your site but may be if your blasting around 500 links per day there are possibilities of your site being sandboxed. That is you will see rankings in the top 5 pages for backlinking with anchor text but later your site will be at page 500. Again with little bit manual work you could bring it up.
It would mean by your targeted page (landing page).

    Hi Scotsmarc;

I would recommend Permanent One-way Back Links to get up serps. Depends on quality of back links and number of competition for that particular keyword, There isnt any Sure-shot amount of back-links

Always use White-Hat SEO techniques, This will take time but give you guarantee results in long-term
