    Ok,
I am launching my first actual website. I have put alot of money into this website, and really hope I get it back. The site is dopiitv.com. I want the first day to have alot of people visiting. These sites do best when advertised by word of mouth. Also I will be doing SEO work as soon as it is up. I am thinking about myspace. I have been offered a 44,000 friend myspace for $250. If anyone has one cheaper I'd certainly be interested. Are there any other ways besides ppc ads on googgle and such. I need some way to get my site noticed. I need some unique new and interesting ideas. So I came here to see if you guys could help me.
    Thanks
    Mike :)

Hmmm, the concept doesn't look very unique I don't see how you could make a splash. What do you do that YouTube doesn't? You might not want to make a splash considering you are hosting copyrighted material. You should expect some letters from lawyers very soon.

I am not hosting anything. I am simply linking to their videos.

MySpace marketing is effective if you make it effective... I mean you get out of it what you put into it. If you span all of your friends, you will loose them and they wont click your links, ever.

It works great if you know what you are doing, and you don't over do it, your $255 will go to waste, or you can always resell the account with a few more friends. And before you buy the account, ask the guy how much spamming he did, and if the URL is picked for the account, those can play some big roles.

Hey, you could always just change your MySpace accounts person... I doubt anyone would notice. lol

OK well how much would you say a 44,000 fiend myspace is worth. Not much spamming already done and the friends have not been acepted yet (a way to get around the commenting cache).
    Thanks
    Mike

Before you launch your site and announce it to everyone put some content on it. I was on it for about 5 seconds and didnt find anything interesting. You need more videos.

I came close to opening an image hosting site last year before i changed my mind, and one tip i was given is, if i ever need to show someone a picture, make sure i host it on my site and send them the link, or if you're on a website and you need to share a picture or a video in your case, then stick it on your site and send them a link. This might be just a small tip but you never know when that one person sees your site and who helps spread the word to hundreds or thousands of other people.

Have you tried issuing some press releases? With the popularity youtube has there is probably some interest to be generated from a possible new kid on the block?
