Hi All, I am starting a new discussions forum site which is about Engineering college students, final year project and all stuffs. They can post about the things they find,discovered, search for engineering resource posted by other ones,ask for a doubt in their subject,project ideas,show their project by posting pictures/videos. I believe i can move this to a big level and have had planned things to keep my site unique from the other ones. I wanted to know what is your suggestion/advice for me to take my forum to a successful level. The first i want to know is how to get many users registered? First i wanna pay to some people to make mass postings ? or just keep telling word of mouth? publish articles? which works best ? How to build a reputation and how to make them believe that "okay let us try in this site to ask our doubts, seems like promising" As of now my site is totally a non-profit one. Please tell all of your ideas in marketing my site each one will worth the time Thanks very much.
Trade traffic with any site that would interest your surfers. In order to get traffic, you need to give something, either money or traffic. If interested check my signature.

No, not link exchanges. Link exchanges (trading links) are made for PR reasons and search engines. Traffic trading is when two sites post links to each other, in order to exchange surfers. The links are either script-links (../out.php?trade.com) or loaded through an external web service with javascript, which also prohibits any SEO benefit. In short, if you're looking to exchange links for SEO, good luck. You will have to deal with lower/greater PR, placement.. until of course you give up. Traffic trading on the other hand, has none of these disadvantages. A greater site than yours, has no problem trading with you because all he has to do is place your link lower at the toplist. He has no PR/serp stuff to think about. You will find a lot more traders when trading traffic, than trading links. And of course don't confuse this kind of trading, with the "traffic exchange" services that are popular right now. Traffic trading is for surfers traffic, not webmasters clicking each others links.

All the forums/services/directories I know for mainstream trades, are about link trades, not traffic trades. This is why i decided to make my own, EndlessTrade widget It is brand new so there aren't a lot of traders yet but you can submit your site and let others find you in time. And remember it is widget based, you won't have to update your site.
