Launching a new site

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by dct, Dec 31, 2004.

I am currently working on a new information site which I intend to launch fully towards the end of January.

Would it be beneficial from a search engine perspective, to put a temporary site up (basically saying what's coming soon) with IBLs .

    Cheers

In my opinion i dont think it could do any harm to put a page "under construction" up. Add some nice info there on what the site will be about.

It's too late now. If you did it ~2 weeks ago, you'd have some PR now. Next update in April. :)

Still would be a good idea to have the site up as soon as possible. The sooner you get the site up the sooner it will come out of Google's sandbox (In theory anyways ;) )

I agree. Put up something on that domain with some content including your keywords and some adsense ad's. That's what I've done for my under construction domain: www.rhinestonegems.com :D

Good advice Summer. Will do right away on one or two sites I'm planning. Nice to get the "do that - I did myself and it works" kind of advice

Thanks for the replies, I have now added a few links (and the site is listed in google).

With regards to Adsense, would that be a breach of TOS as the site is still under construction?

Never leave just an empty domain. Always put up a 'coming soon' page - and seo it for your topic. Submit to google and even get a few links to it, like in forum signatures.

I agree with that and can see the benefit. Its the risk of breaking the Adsense TOS that I'm concerned about.
