It never hurts to use the local standard media outlets. I find that you can reach a lot of low hanging fruit in a market by using the newspaper. Submit some press releases and good things can happen - for FREE. There's a lot of small to midsized companies that don't know where or how to look for SEO, but scour every inch of the local news. Put some layman terminology in the release, "assisting clients in improving their positioning on google" etc. etc.

Cover all your bases online, but it never hurts to go where the competition isn't.

I own a few ecommerce websites and I have always used email marketing to acquire new sales and customers to my sites. Your site seems more like a content site, so email marketing may not be you're best bet. I pay around $5 cost per acquisition and I earn an average $13 profit per sale. This price may be a little high for a content site, email marketing may only work with ecommerce sites. If you do go this route, here are a couple firms that I've used with success for my email campaigns:

    Alloy Media Marketing
    Viralytics Media
    Protocol Integrated Direct Marketing

...all very good in the email field

adamnldt danicamedelo thanks for the great suggestions. I will be using off line sources to get the message out. We will be using press releases. I hadn't considered email. It might be difficult to acquire email lists for a specific geographic area, but it is worth considering.

Thanks for taking the time to provide positive input. It is really appreciated.

Local businesses are the growth engines of our economy. We also very much enjoy teaching and empowering the small business owner to make the Internet work for them.

When we take on a client we believe that we truly are entering a partnership with them with the ultimate goal to make their business profitable. Many clients have become close personal friends.

And that is what I call priceless... We gladly cede the national and international clients to others. We like playing where the numbers are in our favor.
