    Hello...

I have a new website that i just launched.. (nutritionforum.com/forum) and I'm trying to get my forum started. Can you please share the best way to get posts going and drive traffic. Also, what are some of settings that I need to have to keep my forum efficient and safe. I don't know much about forum management and any help to a newbie would be greatly appreciated

If i were you... I would Run some adwords and and be really active on the forums. Another thing you can do is hire Forum posters.

In addition to that you can create a twitter account, a facebook page, optimize the forum yourself or with VBSEO.

    That should get you started.

You can start by using less crappy, SEO unfriendly forum software....

    Once you get that done:
    - Run a contest. First person to get 100 posts with at least 20 words each, gets a year of free hosting from X hosting company
    - Set up WordPress and publish some articles. Promote the articles on Digg etc. Make sure the blog has a big link that says "Visit our forums", or "Forum" or something.

Wear signatures on other forums, search engine submission, get friends to signup and be active, be active yourself, find active staff.

With a wide scope topic like nutrition - I would start a youtube channel and post information videos. If you have knowledge in the nutrition field, then I highly recommend you go the video route.

Maybe visit some local gyms, get videos of good looking people working out, talk about nutrition, and the roll it plays in physical fitness.

Maybe do some interview with doctors, and talk about the roll that nutrition plays in disease prevention.
