Seriously what the hell is wrong with these people!? Pardon my language but I'm tired of the lawsuits against big companies especially the ones close to become monopolies. Apparently Corn farmers are mad at Google and have accusations of anti trust violations. There is also another letter that was sent to congress saying that Google analyzes the e-mail of their G-mail.com users in order to deliver better advertising. My response to this is, if you don't like the service then don't use it! I never saw or heard of a Google employee pointing a gun to someone's head making them use G-mail instead of Hotmail, or Yahoo or any other provider. And what do the Farmers have to do with anything here? Are we gonna be seeing Larry Page buying a giant corn field and cultivating it? Larry Mitchell, director of legislative affairs for the American Corn Growers Association said "It's not unusual for farmers to look at technology" well I use technology and you don't see me suing Google smart guy. Another group of Stupid people, the Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) sent a letter to Google CEO Eric Schmidt saying that Google changes its search algorithms to benefit certain websites, thereby affecting small business owners trying to get costumers from Google search Results. Well like I said before, Google is not forcing anyone to use their service, and if the LISTA wants its members to get better search results then why the hell don't they spend a couple of dollars and buy themselves some Adwords credits. Or how about hiring a SEO expert? I'm latino, this site could be considered a business and there are larger websites than this one yet I don't bitch and complain to Google saying that my results could be better cause I'm a minority. I would not accuse all Latino in general. The lawsuit does not say Google is affecting Latino businesses. Big companies know how to deal with these type of stuffs, why not leave it to them
I would second your opinion, these are big organizations against big organizations. Google also had its fair share of complaints against others for eg Microsoft. Litigations are a tactic big companies used against each other, the recent ones being Creative versus Apple, each suing the other.
If we have large database with quality than customer will find us themselves . I don't think so Google do such things for promoting few sites but people like them atleast get some publicity by doing such stunts .
Google has every rights to put what it wants in its SERP. Google has every rights to ban sites like microsoft.com to joe-smoe.com from ever showing up on their SERP. There's no contract or agreement. If you do not like Google's practice, simply don't use it. Google can be as fair or unfair as it likes. Its like walking into someone's house and ask why there is no photo of yourself in their house??!! Crazy world.
The idea that Google can do as it pleases ignores the regulatory role of the FCC and protections against media monopolies. This is a popular opinion, and the prevailing legal sentiment, but a strong argument could be made that the major search engines, like last century's TV networks, have such control over the media that "equal time" statutes apply, at least in the US where all these SE's are based. I've often thought that the public interest could compel inclusion for particular interests, though in practice I think no standard could actually be applied. A voluntary fairness monitoring board which supervises all SE's on a sample basis might be a good way to counter discrimination against sites and organizations with a genuine and legitimate need for a listing. Google has enough (unfair) advantage over information that a step like this would seem to be in the public interest.
