    Hi everyone,

Here's something all you directory submitting-folk might be interested in; we've just released the new version of SubmitEaze, and there's a a lot of useful tools, here's just a couple of them:

    - A new tool called 'Directory Detective' which will crawl the directories you've submitted to in order to find any links to your website. It will then extract the anchor text and find the Google PageRank of every link, so you build up a complete picture of all of the links.

    - You can now customize the auto-fill function in SubmitEaze so it will operate exactly how you want it. You can even add new fields for the form filler

Like I said, there's lots of updates and there's no point listing them all here so for more info please have a look here:

    http://www.submiteaze.com/upgrade-30.html

You can also watch the video demos here:

    http://www.submiteaze.com/demos/

Any feedback please feel free to PM me or post here, or use the contact form on the SubmitEaze website.

This is an excellent program. The crawl feature is nice, but plan on breaking it up into smaller jobs because it takes quite some time. Understandable when you think about all the pages being crawled.

Madness - No problem, gotta keep the punters happy! Yes the bug you raised with Brenden will hopefully be fixed with an update this week. We've got your Email address logged against the bug so you'll get an Email so you know it's been fixed.

Linkmeup - Yes that's a good idea. Funny story: after we released version 3 and everyone had downloaded it we got reports that a couple of the directories had crashed. Turns out that with all of our users trying out the Directory Detective tool at the same time we'd accidentally created a Distributed Denial of Service attack on the directories at the top of the list and crashed their servers! oops lol

    My 2 cents:

Yes you're right in an ideal world people shouldn't need to search for their links, the directory operators should Email people to let them know their link is included, but from my experience this only happens 50% of the time. When I ran the directory detective on a couple of my sites I discovered almost double the number of links I thought I had. Now that's quite a big reason why I'd want to use it.

To eliviate your fears it only happened at the version launch stage because all of our users downloaded it and started trying it out, obviously thousands of people hammering a couple of directories is not normal usage. Also, isn't it a good idea to load-test servers, or am I the only person that does that nowadays?

Also, how do you think search engines crawl your site? That's all SubmitEaze is doing.

With regards to the emailing dir owners about their links. I can't speak for why only 50% or so do...I do know that there are a good number of non existent address and other BS that cause returns/bounces. I wouldn't blame a dir owner if he/she chose not to send replies.

Load balancing....hmmm...I would venture to guess a good portion of the dir owners don't even know what that is let alone do it. Further more, the majority of dir owners are prolly using shared hosting or VPS. Very few of us actually own our servers or have dedicated servers. Thus, load balancing for the average Joe dir owner is not going to happen.

"How do I think SE's crawl my site?" Come on...let's be serious here. No dir owner would argue one bit about the SE's crawling their site. After all, thats what we all want. However, having even a small percentage of the site submisision owners crawling your site can/could be an uncalled for waste of resources as I mentioned above.

Since I haven't personally used the product, can you tell me and others if the tool identifies itself in the server logs.....as do the SE's? Also, does it adhere to the robots.txt stipulations? If so, please elaborate. If it does not adhere to the robots.txt, please consider this as a future enhancement for the sake of us Dir owners! ;)

Good luck with your new release. I'm sure it will be a hit!:)

Hi wildweb, thanks for the critique, I’ll certainly bear it in mind.

I’ll be honest, it currently doesn’t obey a robots.txt file, I’ll ensure it does get added though. I do understand your concerns, but from a submitters POV I think if someone pays for submission to a directory then it’s not unreasonable for them to analyze whether the links that they’ve paid for still exist, monitor the Google PageRank, anchor text and also if the links use ‘nofollow’. If they’ve submitted to hundreds of directories there’s no way they could do that manually. Even if a directory does Email them once they’ve been included then it’s still useful to update PageRank, anchor text, and nofollow values – but in that case it will only need to check one page.

The Directory Detective tool doesn’t download any images, only the basic HTML, and once a link is found, it stops. If it’s re-run at a later date then it will re-try the existing URL it has stored to see if the link still exists - so it’s quicker for the user and doesn’t use any unnecessary bandwidth for the directory. On the topic of bandwidth, naturally it will use some bandwidth, but a directory in itself isn’t exactly bandwidth-hungry, does anyone ever get anywhere near their monthly bandwidth allowance for a basic HTML website with a few graphics?

I like to think of the directory operator / SubmitEaze relationship as two way street; I don’t hear any complaints from directory operators when our users are submitting to their directories and providing links and money : )

The accidental DoS only arose because all of our users were using it en-mass and obviously the directories at the top of the list bared the brunt of that. But that situation would only ever happen once, and it’s been and gone.

I don't want to cause any waves with the new feature, it's only designed to help people. Thanks again

About your software-is subscription based? I mean, do you have to log onto your website to get the latest directory list? And can you add directories manually?

It's license-based and it's a 'license for life', so you get all software and directory listings updates free. If you ask any of our existing users I'm sure they'll vouch that we update our directory lists every 7-14 days, and provide regular software updates, like the ones in the latest update.

The software automatically updates each time we update the listings, so you don't need to worry about manually updating.

Yes you can add your own directories and create your own categories. It will tell you when adding directories if it is already listed and in which category, and give you the option of whether to include it.

Well the promo has ended, but we've now implemented two license options (Standard and Pro) so anyone wishing to buy can choose what features they want to pay for:

The standard license will enable users to use the directory lists that come with SubmitEaze (Free, Paid, and Reciprocal), submit their websites using the auto-fill function within the software, and then track their submission status. Users will still receive regular directory listings updates and software updates as usual.

The professional license is designed for users who want to customize SubmitEaze to their own personal needs and enables you to use all of the features within the software, including the ability to add your own directory lists to the software, use the Directory Detective Tool, customize the auto-fill facility, take screenshots, and create submission reports.

The price of the professional license will remain at $98.95, and the new standard license is available at $59.95. Even if you decide to purchase a standard license you can still upgrade to a professional license if you decide you want to take advantage of the professional features at a later date.

For a full breakdown of the features please see our purchase page: http://www.submiteaze.com/purchase/

    Hi everyone,

Here's something to brighten your Monday; we just released Version 5.0 of SubmitEaze. We've added a couple of major new features to it, namely....

    1) Tabbed Web Browsing - you can now have multiple tabs open (just like Firefox and IE7) so while one page is loading you can be submitting to others so you're not wasting time waiting for pages to load. So basically you can now submit to directories even faster than before.

    2) Link page maintenance - you can now generate and upload link pages directly from within SubmitEaze. This is ideal for those who wish to submit to reciprocal link directories without needing to switch between your web editor and ftp program. The procedure is very quick and easy and done in a matter of seconds, so you can save some serious time & effort. A video demo of this is available on the SubmitEaze website (you also see the tabbed browser in action as well):

    http://www.submiteaze.com/demos/linkpages.html

Full details of this upgrade can be found here:

    http://www.submiteaze.com/upgrade-50.html

Hopefully everyone will find these new features useuful. For those who already have SubmitEaze installed you only need to start SubmitEaze and you'll be prompted to download the upgrade. Anyone wanting to give SubmitEaze a try can download a trial from our website.

Please get in touch if you have any suggestions for features we should add to Version 6.0! Any questions or comments you know where you can find me.

    All the best,

    BBB

I took a look at your site & find this very interesting.

One question - I watched the demo videos and understand that custom categories can be created & new directories added.

But, can the directories in the existing list be easily sorted into custom categories? Just for the sake of an example, say I wanted to sort the 2000 directories that come installed in the software into, say, 6 categories that have titles I create - can that be done?

    Thanks!
    Denise
