Google Caffeine is the name given to the new Google infrastructure. Caffeine ranks websites using a new and different algo. Caffeine isn't live yet across the Google servers, only a few servers have been updated with this new algo. These are the current Caffeine server IPs I found.

Caffeine is being rolling out pretty heavily.
Almost all the datacenters are updated with caffeine.

I was checking Caffeine last night and I found about 28 Google datacenters using caffeine already, which includes the IP's mentioned by the OP and some 74.* IP's. Its coming guys..

I'm not really seeing any differences in results on these IPs. Not sure where you're getting information that these DCs are running Caffeine. Also, I don't think G said that the results will be very different, but instead that the infrastructure is different. So, IMO it can be very difficult to truly identify a caffeine DC versus non.

I have got about 10 keywords with big SERP differences between the non-caff and the caff Google datacenters, that is how I found out which DC are caffeinated, last night, about 28 of them are.

    Impressive !!!

i just replied to a thread the other day..sayign how the old IP's were no longer effective.. or only showed 50% of the time.. i just ran a test from: http://209.85.225.104 and am seeing very impressive results.. compared to google.com i am up 5 places on the first page compared with google.com

Everyone start using http://209.85.225.104/ if your looking for anything in my niches lol

    Cheers for the post!!!

EDIT: WOW... some keywords are much better ranked others have really dropped.. and strangely enough the keywords ive done heavy link work for are the ones suffering drops... need more research but damm some big changes are in store for us

What kind of link building did you do to the ones that suffered huge drops? Blog Comments? Directory Submissions?

Yes, this could be Caffeine resultes on those data centers. If this is being olled out now , we should expect official confirmation from Google.soon.

If google say that such a thing as age and website speed will somehow affect results it means an algo change is on its way as well. I know age have been part of the old algo but this time it will have a different impact and probably stronger. But it is true they claim the results wont differ much but where an algo change is in store, results will change a bit.

Caffeine is a new system google is introducing to their search engine to better helpserve more related search results, the IP's above are using Caffeine whereas normal google.com is not.. test some keywords that you use in both google.com and the IP's above and you will notice different results are served, hope this helps.

surprisingly my keywords that suffered the most came from web 2 link building, this was done over a period of 3 months not a rushed blog commenting service or anything that would look suss, all links we created in related niches, and also cost me $900- and also a lot of time myself, this was a well researched method and i had a hand by one of the best SEO companies going around.. i too have seeded many sites in 1st position and still to this day i have sites ive not touched for at least 1 year sitting in #1 position, so this is a little worry... i will begin small testing methods now and scale them up as time goes by to see what works best....

This is a site i sold more than 18 months ago.. http://callofduty5.tv/ "call of duty 5" <--- keyword it's sitting 1st spot on the second page and has had no content added for almost 18 months... this site was pulling 20k uniques everyday for 12 months.. the new owner did nothing with it sadly... but yeah my other sites ive worked hard on have taken a beating with the caffeine update which is strange, while that old call of duty site is still getting 2-4k visits daily.. caffeine shows a small serps drop but nothing to the extent of my newer projects.
