    BLACKBERRY 9630- WHAT’S THE VERDICT?

Considering I see a fair lot of business phones around me (Us business students are often enclosed in a thickly business environment) I’ve never been truly impressed with the blackberry, although I’m aware that some of the corporate people would only scorn at me for saying so. Perhaps, it’s the principle of the thing that gets to me. People at my age, youngsters as you may label us, prefer change and innovation. Blackberry fails to deliver that I guess. Take for example, the blackberry 9630.
Considering it’s the new thing in the series, you’ll probably be sitting at home thinking what it would be this time. Well, be ready to be disappointed. It’s a simple blend of three predecessors. The Blackberry Storm, blackberry curve 8900, and the blackberry bold! It snuggles in between the last two for a size fit, and depends greatly on both for the way it looks. It’s almost a puzzle where pieces from both versions have been taken off and fixed to create a “whole new look”. Perhaps the battery door will fascinate some of us?
It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera which is a sigh of relief and much cause of happiness. The previous 2.0 megapixel Among the other features, worth mentioning is the RIM’s LCD with a resolution of 480x360 is the time and again used item with the blackberry fans who have already fallen for it in Curve.
You couldn’t completely say the maker did not think his options through! Consider, for example, the form fit in your hand. Neither too small (like the Curve) nor too big (Remember Bold?); it is a refreshingly well fitting phone for the majority. While the thickness and size may not win the hearts of those hooked onto the smaller Curve 8900 (meaning you can’t stuff it in your back pocket like you did with the 8900), it Does hold onto its own when compared with the little curvy devil.
The CDMA carriers have finally something to talk about and get their game going with 9630. Considering the fact that it has both the form and specifications on its side against Bold, it is also leaving Curve behind in keyboard styling and processing speed.
The keyboard, now, if you please. The keyboard has always been my issue with blackberry. While bigger keyboards make the entire process really tiring as you keep jumping from a key to another, the smaller ones make it impossible to type without errors. With 9630, the problem is more or less resolved to a great extent. The 9630 keyboard solves all issues by marking a middle ground with the size, incorporating both the ease of reaching keys well and increase the efficiency with accuracy of not-no-tight keyboard.
Perhaps, owning one wouldn’t be too bad. Considering it is a product designed for the corporate class, it definitely delivers what it sets out to deliver. Sophistication (read boredom), efficiency of internet management via mobile phone, and not to forget data speed, Blackberry 9630 does march ahead of its peers.

    IPHONE 3GS

Well, another version of the iphone from the oh so retard friendly Apple. Where to start... LOOKS! Looks are very important in this modern day and age, so let’s start doing what everyone else will do, and criticize them first.

Well... it looks pretty much the same as the last iphone. Well done with that Mr. Jobs. Money well worth spending on a new piece of merchandise from your specky self. The good thing about it is it does come in multiple colors. So if you do want to make it match your handbag, you totally can. Long as it's maroon, black or white.
Good job guys! Nice selection there, I can get a bloody N64 in more colors than that.

The menu layout is exactly the bloody same as well. How the hell is this upgrade? So far there appears to be no change at all with this. It's pathetic. Once you start to over load the menu with applications, you will start to get pissed with the constant swiping through the pages to get to your newer, more used apps.

Seeing as most of the features were just carried over from the previous versions, I'm just going to ignore them as covering old stuff is getting quite annoying.

The camera. Oh the camera. Previous models have had some seriously sub-par cameras. The "Tap to Focus" option is pretty damn amazing. Literally tapping on the screen to focus on that certain point.

Video recording is a new item, which is a standard feature on pretty much all phones at this point. It's quite pathetic that it has taken Apple this long to add it. The "Tap to Focus" also works on the video recording. It's basic VGA quality, but it records at 30fps. Finally something to be amazed about. Once you're done with your clip, you can automatically email it to someone or upload it to your you tube account.

The video editing is also pretty damn good. Intuitive and actually fun to use. You load up an old shot and you see it frame by frame. You slide to the part the you to screw about with and just go nuts. If you chop a clip down it does save over your old version, good for cutting down long clips or removing the boring bits from videos of your mates making an arise of themselves while wasted.

Voice control is handy, which you can use to control the whole phone. From the actual calls, to the iPod features. It isn't perfect, but to be fair, no voice control is perfect. My desktops voice control isn't perfect, so I stopped using it to control my music player from my bed anymore.

The best option of them all though, is "Find my iphone". For all you people that are retarded enough to lose a piece of junk you paid through the teeth for. You can track your iphone using your computer and it pops it's location on a map for ya. Also letting you send it a message with instruction for someone if they happen to find it. But to be fair, I've lost old Nokia bricks before, sent a message to it off of a mate’s phone with where to take it, and the fact I'd give them some cash for it when they handed it over as a thank you. And they never did. They are still using it today. I ring it occasionally in the vein hope that they will answer. 4 years on, it rings but they never answer.

Now we've covered the important stuff, onto some more techie stuff that only the truly geeky will care for.

The battery life is slightly longer than the previous version, so they actually managed to give us that. To be honest, it's not hard to improve on a battery that needs charging up ever day. Not bad, but still could be better.

The applications do run faster how ever because of the better power usage.

The call quality hasn't improved much from the previous generations, which is still a large problem. Can you imagine trying to get vital information about a piss up from someone screaming it at you with a mouth full of bricks? Yea. Another problem Mr. Jobs. Yet another problem.

    SONY VIAO PERSONAL NOTEBOOK

Many of you might be the current users of the Sony VIAO personal Notebook, if not your naughty little brain might be thinking of getting your hands on. Now for the James Bond fans out there, there is very good news. This is also for the rare gadget collectors. Now on with the news: Sony in collaboration with the James Bond Franchise has decided to release Sony VIAO James Bond 007 Notebook. But the technical fans out there would be asking what is so special about this notebook.

This limited edition notebook is a Sony VIAO TT Notebook .It comes with a leather protected casing and not forgetting the James Bond Gun logo engraved on the palm rest. It comes fitted with a Intel® Centrino ® 2 processor technology with Intel ® Core ™ 2 Duo Su9300 processor which delivers up to 1.2 GHz. It features 3 Mb of L2 cache with pre installed RAM memory of 2Gb. The users get to work on Windows Vista ® Home premium 32-bit with Service Pack 1. For the storage purposes it contains a 64 Gb Hard drive for you to carry your data (or maybe secret spy data) in it.

For the LCD it comes with an 11.1 inch display with X-BRITE DuraView™ for you to work your way on. The LCD has a backlight which enables full LCD lighting for better visuals. The LCD features 100 % color saturation and for the screen glass it self it is scratch resistant (well that’s good news for your missions in tough environments). The screen also delivers HD output which is equal to full 1080p, besides that it also enables connectivity to an HD Television.

The notebook itself has been made for your eyes to feast upon. It is way lightweight and durable as the outer casing has been made by carbon fiber. The weight of the notebook equals to 2.7 lbs only. One can easily spot the sleek patterns of the fibers in the casing. It makes the Laptop extra durable along with extra light too.

This notebook also allows fast, easy and undisturbed connection to the internet. It offers a massive boost in wireless connection speed and also the range with 802.11n integrated wireless LAN technology. The Sony VIAO James Bond 007 edition also contains Stereo Bluetooth® feature so that you can wirelessly use important peripherals and for streaming CD quality sounds for you to enjoy. For other media playbacks it features Active Noise Canceling skill so that you get noise free ultra high sound quality. For conversations it has an integrated webcam and also built in microphone so that you don’t have to wear anything.

By now you would have really found a lot of reasons to spend your money on this baby. But reminding you again this is a rare collector’s editions and they would be releasing only 100 pieces of this so you better make its spot in your spending schedule. So at the end I would say for all the 007 fans out there: “Go Get’em Tiger!”

Spying in style - Digital Dream JB1 007 Digital Camera

I have always been a great admirer of the spy gadgets right from the start. This one particularly caught my eye while drooling over the likes of it. The JBI has some really cool features to boast about:
    - Includes a "snap closed" carrying case, DSB cable and a demo CD to make life easier by easy carriage, instant connectivity and knowing all about the functions
    - Pocket size CD card: You will never have to worry about traveling with baggage loads of pictures with this one!
    - Comes in a Classy packing – Not only will it make a perfect gift, it could be a Christmas treat for your own self. It is definitely allowed to be selfish with goodies like these, I tell ya!
    - Password security coding: Ultimate protection of your “secret” data for emails and photos! Some of us will really get a kick from this and play agent to our heart’s content.
    - Greeting Cards - insert your image into a "007" scene. Makes a perfect, instant card and comes handy if you show up at a friend’s place without one. Now that would be bad!
The digital dream JBI puts “ST micro technology” to work and captures astonishingly detailed pictures that never let the file size get out of control. I once read a quip about James bond having to stop in middle of his mission and putting in a memory card. The best part is indoor photography which lets us take clear pictures without flash, even in fluorescent lighting. This is enabled by the use of “LiteSync technology”
On its surveillance mode, you can use the preset intervals of upto 90 minutes to capture activity for almost nineteen days straight! Not only could you record video with sound, you can also record a message, take memory notes with its voice recording. Important inputs could be recorded for as long as twelve minutes (you might as well just deliver a speech about your covert mission when you’re at it!) For nifty jobs, this little fellow is all packed with surprises. Talk about best things coming in small packages.
The Zippo like camera comes in a sleek design and a very clever disguise. You need not switch it on. Just flip the top like you’d do with your Zippo, and spy away! The metal case cigarette lighter can contain 150 pictures with a 640 x 480 resolution and a stunning 310 pictures at 320 x 240. Its amazing 8MB storage allows it to be used as a data transfer device between computers as well.
The JBI allows videos of upto 30 seconds and can also be used to send live video feed via internet by connecting it to your pc (or maybe sum other hyper cool pocket computer device, who knows?) It comes with its own pictures editing software and a self timer of ten seconds delay. As for general system requirements, you’d need a Pentium 166 or higher with Windows 98, me, 2000, XP, and the like. It’s seldom that you come across a beauty of that many virtues.
