Latest Digg (Like Latest Blog)

Just had a fantastic idea which I quickly patented :D

Like Shawn's Latest Blog Entry hack, maybe we can have a Latest Digg Entry hack. It could help bring down the number of 'digg me, digg me' posts and is overall quite interesting IMO. With the recently released API it's probably pretty simple to implement as well.

If there's not enough space around then perhaps members could choose whether to show their latest Blog or their latest Digg.

    What do you think?

That is a good idea. :) Aren't most people on DP banned from digg nowadays though?

Can anyone post an example of this API in action? I saw it released about a week ago but have yet to see it.

You could do this already just by hacking your digg user feed into a format that works with the 'latest blog' reader.

I created my own news feed for my phone site just to integrate into this forum, thats why it shows up deep links ;).

Only those that have been naughty, there's plenty of us still active (myself included).

And yeah, API isn't even necessary, your user feed would probably suffice, just like the Recent Blog feature works.

And also yeah, it could go instead of the latest iTunes song indeed, having that choice would be cool IMO.

    6 Diggs so far... :D

Couldn't people use their signature for that if they really wanted?

That would require manual labour from our part whereas you are a coding legend and could automate it.

I hadn't planned it to be just to get those Diggs, more like the Blog feature, see what interests others, 2.0 and all that stuff.

I'll poke around on the Digg API sometime soon and see if there's anything interesting I could use it for...

Cool! *Jumping up and down in excitement* :)

One day I'll get familiar with VB myself and promise to not be so lazy and code it myself.
