Since I have gotten a lot of PMs on the subject I would like to announce some of the new thing happening at Article Depot

The first is also the most obvious. We have had a complete redesign of our site. Is has gone a lot further than asthetics however. Our new design is much faster meaning almost no load time even on the slowest dialup connections. With over 21,000 articles submitted this was crucial to us.

We would like to thank Oliver at www.oweb.co.uk as they designed the custom template we know use. They were able to cut our HTML code in half which has meant the new faster browsing.

We have also added the ability to get the HTML code for any article you like with the click of the mouse. Just look for the "Get HTML" link on the upper right of every article. This means its easier than ever to get content for your sites.

You can now Advertise with Article Depot. Take a look here for our current rates. This easy to use payment system was in response to our visitors.

We have a whole host of upcoming features which include:

July 26th - A user area where you can submit articles. Sign Up is free and this allows you to edit your articles at any time. You can also see all that you have submitted. We will slowly be adding features like specialized RSS feeds, Revenue Share and a refferal system through the next couple of months. This is in addition to our already popular Quick Submit

July 27th - RSS Feeds - This will allow you to have Article Depot on your site by simply adding our feed. This will give you new and fresh content everyday without having to do anything

We would like to thank everyone that has supported us by both using our articles and submitting them. Without our visitors we wouldn't exist!

    Thanks to all!

Looking good, the site certainly seems to be taking off. It just shows if you put the hard work in and listen to your visitors great things are possible, nice one.

It looks nicer, and works faster very good.

Does the site runs a script that can be puchased? or you did your own?

It could be faster/smaller size if you cnage all those font tags to css.

It was great to see SEBasic's work firsthand. He should be officially launching his new site next week but he is a really clean coder. I was impressed with the template he built for us and am looking forward to seeing his template site.

Most templates are code heavy so I think he is going to fill an area of need.
(Even if I was a bit humbled at how heavy my coding was :( )

The Get HTML feature looks nice. Will pick up a few new articles when I can find the time. The User Area seems like a nice touch, will you be able to squeese in already submitted articles into your user account?

I originally bought a script but it was unusable so I based the site off of that. At this point its my own as I have added so many features, I have rewritten the thing 5 times.

The font tags are my fault (SE's template is pure CSS) and will be phased out to increase speed even more. They arent part of the template so have to be changed on a page by page basis.

I want to get the Admin and RSS additions in first.

Great looking modifications to the look and feel of the site!

The user module is a good new feature of the site.

Good luck with promoting your article site.

I can do that for DP members no problem, I will PM you when the time comes. I obviously can't do it for every submitter because it would take a few years ;)

So you say you'll be able to bring my 1 (one) article into my user account. Thats a relief, I would be devastated if all that work was out of reach for me to edit

On average, how many articles does each user submit?

    (Out of interest)

Thats actually a metric we can't pull right now because we don't have an Admin section. Its one I myself am looking forward to.

We have about 5-10 major submitters that are adding at least 3-4 a day like clockwork. They have multiple content writers (who are really good) and treat this as a very serious part of their SEO.

The vast majority are made up of your average site owners. They typically submit in a group of around 5 articles at the same time. I myself fall in this category and they typically do their submissions once a month to us, ezine, and goarticles.

The major submitters add consistency while the others provide variety. Its been an interesting mix and I can't wait to pull reports to see the actual percentages. As far as actual number total it changes day to day. We had around 200 submissions in the last 24 hours.

I review more than half the articles myself and have my own favourites. I'm just waiting for hodgeup to start submitting. Entries to the humuor category are my favourite and he is a really funny guy.

You may want to wait until the Admin section is complete next Tuesday. It should automatically prepopulate your submission form with your About the Author info.

Not to mention there will be SEO benefits for being a top submitter. ;)

An interesting sidenote, Since we added the "Get HTML" link it has allowed us to better track what percentage of visitors are using the articles and what percentage or submitting. So far its been about 60% using which is good but we hope to improve. The RSS feeds should help that.

Now if I can only get it oprating in the black

Would you say it would be better to submit articles to half a dozen submission sites or to as many as you can (thinking of dup content)?

    Nice improvements by the way.

Just wondering, if I sign up an account, will this be visible to the outside world like they can see all my submissions or will I be able to 'anonimously' submit individual articles but under my account? I would like to post some 'ghost' articles without anu reference to us but a link (as if someone else wrote it, which is the case 9/10 times).

I think he means income vs costs. Would be nice if a simple CSS tweak could make black out of red on a bank statement :)
