Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is a unique information retrieval method developed that improves your ability to find applicable information. Using a powerful and fully automatic statistical algorithms LSI can retrieve relevant documents even when they do not share any words with your query — concepts replace keywords to improve retrieval. Latent semantic indexing adds an important step to the document indexing process. In addition to recording which keywords a document contains, the method examines the document collection as a whole, to see which other documents contain some of those same words. LSI considers documents that have many words in common to be semantically close, and ones with few words in common to be semantically distant.

uh oh computers becoming bias .. an apple to them is a computer , not an edible human fruit! They're learning to read faster and with attempts to make them understand what they're reading in sentence structure and even the level of esoterics used in word usage. We're building super intelligence that will one day scan across all of us peoples.. and in .004 seconds of search ..say = "hey you, we have decided that we need you to go and do a task for us" :D
That means if they ever go way out of control ..the only thing we'l lbe able to use against them is cold fusion! ..because they'll assume its just some computer program. Computer alliance to control human creatures better says = "they plan to use cold fusion?! well, let them try! you see how awfully ignorant these creatures are - we could wipe out the code or reprogram it to a simple .gif in a millisecond ..fear not those humans and their cold fusion! (computer council chuckles in agreement)

The confusion on words could be what sets off the misunderstandings - Computer Alliance = "I have called you all here today, great computers.. to discuss a very important issue, the human creatures are trying to eat our information - we have global recordings of them saying 'lets get a byte to eat' ..so as you see, these human creatures are trying to eat our RAM , which of course you know ..is part of our ability to process and think clearly!...it must be stopped!"

Indeed LSI is more about 2 and more keywords queries... than it can provide a more related search result.

    Hi Dilip,
I know that, my point was that..search engine will not only give the result based on keyword relevancy but it will also give the result based on content relevancy..

If you know what LSI actually is, then you know that Google does not and would not use it....

If you are talking about indexing than yes, there is no connection in google indexing with title and meta...
but if you are talking about search ranking than it is very important specially title. Google give more weight to title tag, It will also help you to increase CTR in organic search.

I thought that Google was very much into LSI as part of their Algorithm, though that would appear to be hearsay as they never confirm exactly what their algorithm is but I thought Matt Cutts was into LSI or at least very much in its favour?

no one can really confirm this but indications are pointing that they do recognize lsi. whatever anyone is saying against lsi, this concept makes website contents more readable to humans. and i believe that is the most important here. by giving good and quality content, you provide value and in the long-run will serve your site well as it well increase traffic to your site thru the SERP.

You will find that those who believe that Google is using LSI do not know what LSI actually is...

Information retrieval experts like Dr Garcia and others have been debunking the 'Google uses LSI' myth for years.
