If I could buy the ability to search my PM's, organize them better and have a large PM box, i.e. 100MB or above, I'd gladly pay $19.95 a month or even $29.95 a month. Just an idea.
What would you pay for an alternate system.. which would allow you to download pms in excel format.. you then import them to a program and it does everything you listed above.
Yeah but its really annoying searching through those which is why i made that system. Unfortunately I haven't taken the time to work in the formatting stuff so it doesn't display to well. Maybe I'll take some time to work on it later since there seems to be a demand for it.
This would not be a bad idea, and maybe a good thinking point for shawn. The idea is that vBulletin current PM limitations do not allow searching through messages, and I felt like needing that functionality a lot myself lately. When you get your inbox filled up with PM's a search tool would come handy, eh...
It really helps when you max out on messages. Then you have to put your whole list someplace and its rather horrible. Easy to lose track of stuff.
This is a sign that people over there at vB have asked themselves about the utility of a search engine for private messages... Looks like it is not taken care of yet
I get the idea of keeping things free which is very cool but not all services fit everyones need. Certainly most users don't have the need for 10k PM box sizes and search functions but others do and are definately willing to pay for that. I know myself I don't click on any ads so I have little value on that front but I would definately make it up in a monthly fee. Just my two cents.
I would definitely consider spending time to implement a PM search engine on my forums for a customer that needs it, especially when money is involved. Sometimes though, a single voice can't wake up the spirits Well, it would be two voices now, I'd love to have my PM limit increased as well as a search tool available for my messages..
For more than a year now, I've heard people talk about doing something like this. There is clearly a need, just no one seems to move on it. That's why I thought maybe someone at DPF would do it.
I don't have the need fpr this yet. But I have gone through 50 pms so far today. In the near future I think it would be usefull.
