If you only write articles, no need for a CMS, writing manually is far better (pure html). I know it seems barbaric but storing whole content in DB is non-sense. It's not the aim of relational DBs.
No, when Google is the leader of the sector, SEO is the king, not quality. Google's methods has nothing to do with checking quality. As long as Google will use assumable methods, link farms or spam blogs which are created by robots will always rank in 3 pages of results. I hope number of sites like digg, stumble upon, reddit, delicious in all concepts increase.
Both! I like having one site about a topic that I love that I can put most of my efforts into, but I also like to diversify and play around with other ideas. Either way can be highly profitable, but I suggest making at least one huge site.
One large site is better to generate revenue. You can fully concentrate your link building efforts and marketing rather than spreading your money and time thin.
I am not expert but according to me as a programmer, i like to have many sites with important links which may help to generate more different traffic. Each site should be on specific topic so that interested people always get their needed information easily
I think one big site takes so much less time then a lot of small ones, that you might have another big site when the first one is doing well. And if you have a couple big sites, it takes the same time then the smaller ones, but you could get a lot more done in that time. Not to mention the respect you gain when having a big site, which could get you nice ad-deals from other big sites.
For new people, I think many small sites. I myself have many sites. If traffic drop for one site, I still earn from the other sites.
I think many medium sites will be great than one large site. I know someone who make 200$ daily only from adsense with 50 mini to medium sites bought from DP 30$ to 100$ each. One big site is very hard to realize !
Different people with different kinds of views. For me, I think of course one large site will profit you "more" in a long term, and also has better values in a long term. But "to get there" takes time. It won't just happen in a matter of a few days or weeks (or months, or years perhaps). And it's pretty easy to lose the motivation along the way if you are so all about the profit. On the other hand, small sites could make you profit quite immediately, but the profit probably won't compare to the one large site. But adding up together many small sites, probably you won't be making all that bad. So you've got the choice.
I think large site is better because if you have one good site you can concentrate but in small you cant update all of them daily and in todays competition we need to upgrade therm time to time .
Oh, and for me personally I rather start with many small sites, and in between the time, try to build and develop one large site.
Yes true always a big site is preferable. However one suggestion which will be important for you once you start building it up and achieve some profits do develop a few more website
