I have used opencart for years and like it but now I need to upload like 5k products with product feeds from different suppliers who all have there feeds in different formats. When I get a csv or xls file I use a csv import tool with Opencart and as long as all my options are in one field I can easily upload the products including options such as small|med|large I have one feed where each product has a different sku # depending on the color & size option. So the product is on several lines, once for white, once for black, once for large etc. I attached a sample to show you what I mean. Since each option is listed on a separate line I am wondering how I can import the products. Would it be easier using WooCommerce or Magento? Hoping some others with large stores could share some import tips
I do everything with Magento in the first place but I use this to do that sort of thing http://sourceforge.net/projects/magmi/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/magmi/files/magmi-0.7/plugins/packages/ last link contains some extras like the image processor which you will need. Hope that helps, that stuff is a lifesaver. Nigel
I have used both Zen Cart and Magento for large scale product imports. There always a bit of work getting everything in.
Hi friends!!! I need help with magento items import/export. I keep trying for weeks to import 100 products in magento but I got all sorts of difficulties like "Image does not exits". Hope you can help me. I wait your kind reply !
Is magmi working 100% ? Some people say that there are issues with images import. I have magento 1.7.0.0. Thank for your fast reply
Yes, I use it regularly and have had to deal with imports in the 10,000 + product range. 100 products is childs play Nigel
Hey Nigel, just curious if you have also used OpenCart for large sites and how they compare? I find a lot of posts I just started using magento and it seems a little more complicated to setup but its just because I am used to OpenCart. I was able to figure out how to large imports with mod that costs $135 but it is still a little complicated for feeds like the one I attached. Most other feeds I get are much easier when all the options are grouped with a separator. I usually just use a $15 script that works great. All my clients now just have no more than a few hundred products but I guess I should start learning magento if I start getting larger sites to work with. Guess I just have to try it because I see a lot of differing opinions on Opencart & Magento, guess its just which ever you have the most experience with will work.
Magento strikes me as way more logical in the admin panel. If you start with something from themeforest for instance, as a jumping off point visually, it becomes a bit easier to provide an enterprise level solution for cheap. Aside from faster open cart is not quite up to the level magneto is. This assumes a few things. Most of the stuff I do requires some commercial mods to do a few things but the end result is pretty high level stuff. hope that helps, Nigel
Nigel, I am sure that 100 items for you means nothing but for me is important. Please contact me on so we can discuss more about this. Thanks for your stright and quick answers! I await your email ! Cheers
Good grief, I held this dudes hand, set it up, showed him everything on team viewer and he pops in out of no where screaming at me because he broke shit and I wont drop what I am doing on the fly and fix it for him.... 5 minutes later I get a 5 minute diatribe about how I don't know shit lol... What a thankless rube. You gotta watch the ones that get hired to do work but cant do it. Nigel
