    I find the best way to get long life out of a batter on any PC, IBM included is to just not use the battery.

    U can go for sony laptop which amit says. There battery life is good enough and good if u don't want to run MAC OS on Apple Laptop.

    I 'v heard some 12-cell laptop batteries last more than 6 hours, But heavier weight. The newest hp laptop has latest li-ion battery technology up to 3-5 times battery life.

    So far as I know ACER timeline has 8 hrs battery, with solo processor.

    I have a mac and it lasts be 6hours. Around 4hrs when I'm using intensive programs like photoshop and maya!

    I have a toshiba satalite and ive had it for just over a year, it never overheats or shuts down and my batery lasts 3 hours.
