Hello. I'm looking for a really good laptop that's light weight (so around 5 pounds or less) with long battery life.. (4 hours or more would be decent) I bought a Toshiba Satellite a year ago and it SUCKS! The fan heats up the laptop and it suddenly shuts off randomly because of it. (This is actually a very common thing that occurs with other owners too.. if you look it up online). My laptop is also 17" and heavy! (7-8 pounds)! I was looking at the MacBook. Does anyone reccommend this laptop? I can't seem to find the battery life information *yet*... but it seems pretty small and light weight. http://www.apple.com/macbook/macbook.html Much thanks
Thanks! I'm reading it right now After checking the apple site, it says its 6 hours! (enough for me) http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html Battery and power * 55-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery (with integrated charge indicator LEDs) providing up to 6 hours of battery life (2) * 60W MagSafe Power Adapter with cable management system * MagSafe power adapter port Does anyone have problems with the batteries after longterm use? Does the battery life lower as we over use it?
i would recommend Dell. Macs are nice, but i just can't bring myself to spend the money on them when a pc based laptop has more features for less money... my .02...
I have an IBM ThinkPad T-42 with an extended battery and it lasts me up to 6 hours without using the DVD. ThinkPads are a little more than you want to spend but will last forever.
My Dell D620 Last about 2.5 hours on one battery. There is space for 2. I hear the Sony Vio's are real good on batteries.
I have a Macbook Pro and the battery life is about three times as long as my Dell Latitude. But the first thing i do when I get a new laptop is buy additional batteries.
Yeah, why is that. My Acer was at about 2 hours when I bought it, and 6 months later it is barely an hour. I've got a 3 year old iBook that will go 4-6 hours... (second battery) but still... But the first thing i do when I get a new laptop is buy additional batteries.[/quote] Same here..
That Mac Book Air is said to have the longest battery life. I have a dell and i don't have any issues with the battery life of it.
This is a very old thread and nowadays there are many laptops in the market with 7-12 hours of battery backup.
I have no idea how people are getting 7-8 hours out of a macbook pro. I have one as well, but I get 5-6 hours maximum with not much turned on.
I'd check your power management settings. If your hard drive is not set to spin down or sleep, screen does not dim, etc.. that might be why. Either way, 5-6 hours is still twice what an PC will do.
