Laptop touchpad

Is there anyway to disable a laptop's touchpad? I have looked everywhere on the laptop itself, and in option menus, but can't find a solution.

I keep hitting the touchpad while typing fast, which can be very annoying while writing articles to suddenly see I selected a few lines of work and replaced them with a few letters.

    Perhaps there is another solution?

"control panel" if you are using windows.
But probably won't work. I turned it off a few times myself, but it keeps coming back to life.
Put some duct tape over it :D

Hmm. Still can't seem to find it.

Could you be more specific? I'm on Vista Business.

Duct tape would clash with my fashion sense :(

Interesting. I might do that if I hadn't of spent so much money on my current wired mouse.

    Plus, I hate wireless mice.

Control Panel > Mouse > Touch pad > Disable

That should do it. At least thats how it is on my Toshiba lappy.

huh, even my Acer has an option to do so!
luckily I don't "type" and have never been @ odds with my TP
buy a new LT! j/k. Have you searched for it using the OS for keywords in relation to the TP?

one thing that took me forever to find was a CAPS lock registry tweak that disabled the caps lock key...I used to hit that all the time, nearly drove me insane.

of course Vista being so new...might be a tough find on a tech forum
