Depends on what you want to do with it. If it's just web publishing and affiliate marketing stuff, then you don't have to spend too much on a fast laptop.

Laptops have dropped so much in price and there are tons of them on the market. I have a Compaq Presario V6305NR with a AMD Turion Duel core processor. It only came with 1 gig of memory but was easy to upgrade to 2 gig. It does everything I need and I got it for $500 brand new last fall.

It really depends on what you want to do with it and how much you have for a budget. Compaq is owned by HP and is the same components but seems to offer lower prices than the HP name. I recommend them for an inexpensive but sturdy computer.

Toshiba gives its best when it comes to laptops. So look for any best possible configuration in Toshiba and the price range. Then go for it... :)

So far this one looks like a really good buy just by scanning everyone's replies.

Very interesting that no one mentioned Apple. How come?
