I have a desktop, but I've been telling myself for a long time now "Man I should get a laptop..."

    But alas, no $$. :(

It's really a choice of personal preference. If you're just going to be around the house, get a desktop, it'll last longer, and you'll be able to upgrade it easier. Laptop batterys lose 80% of their power within 3-4 years even if you're connected to an outlet.

I have a laptop and a desktop. For serious work I prefer using the desktop as it's usually slightly faster to use.

If I'm not worried about how fast I am working then I will use the laptop. It's usually more comfortable too. :)

I have a desktop PC, but it wouldn't hurt if I get an extra laptop.

people in our line of business really need one of both, the laptop for its portability and the desktop for its reliability.

I prefer laptops, but when it comes to gaming, laptops just can't beat a good desktop gaming rig.

Both have different qualities and best for some special tasks, you can choose as per your need.
