If you just want to cooling your laptop, any cooling pad will do even the one built from plastic and have a couple of fans inside it.

Just make sure that you get on that is the size of your laptop. I ordered one from China and it didn't include the dimensions and its about half the size of my laptop base. I had to send it back.

The laptop cooling fans are not that helpful, if you would want to use it for your netbook or a tablet pc. However, if you find that the laptop gets heated up quickly, you could give a try using cooling fans or cooling pads. Belkin cooling fans seem to be of nice design and are light in weight.
