Laptop Charges question ??

    i using HP laptop which come with a 18.5V charger, recently my charger my charger spoil and i replace with another (IBM) but only 16V charger, it seem like ok but i'm not sure will it good for long run and would it hurt my laptop ?

    my laptop need 18.5v charger, currently using 16V IBM charger due to ori charger blow :( , it seem like working perfectly but i'm not sure will it harm my laptop ??

    It's generally a very bad idea to jam different volts into anything than what is specified. Sticking to specified volts matters.

    its just fine. but probably it will take long before it will fully be charged.
    it is still recommended you use the right volts.

    You should take both computer and chargers to your local IT business in your town or city and have the batteries tested. Tell the IT just what you have told us and I am sure they will advise you further.:cool:

    that makes sense, you can run most laptops off of a reduced voltage charger but not have then put juice back on to the battery because the charging circuit runs off of a direct connection from the input power. If the the voltage isn't there then it just powers the laptop...

    U can use 16volt charger if your 15.5 volt charger is blownn. No problem.
