I have a toshiba M200 Satellite laptop. My battery is gone. It current goes off, then Laptop will be forced to OFF condition. But I never mind and use it by connecting to direct power supply.
One of my friend said, If I connect directly to power supply, then my motherboard will be damaged. Is it so ?

No, it's fine to run a laptop without the battery. In fact, some manufacturer's suggest removing the battery when you plan to keep the laptop connected to an outlet so the battery isn't damaged by the heat produced by the laptop.

builtSEO: Don't worry if your battery is dead, you can use your laptop as normal without it as long as you like but you will not have protection in case of power failure.
tetra_bits: Be careful, the battery doesn't act as a stabilizer! If the power is not stable (witch I doubt!) the protection will be assured by the laptop's power supply!
