landing page versus content site

The question regarding landing page versus content site:
I hear people say that first I should create simple landing page and test it with PPC, if it makes good profit only then to create content site around that niche.
But I also know that if I am going to create simple landing page I will be slept by Google, get poor quality score, etc... I think it will be very difficult to make profit on a simple landing page nowadays. isn't it?
Or I am mistaking somewhere here?
How should I go about it?
    Thanks

    Hey vad111,
I'm not sure if this is a question for google adwords or more of general google issue.

Let's say that if you want to create a profitable site by first testing it with AdWords your might not make a lot of money with ppc maybe even lose some. So if you have a low quality score rise the bid a little.

Lets say you sell food processors and earn 20 bucks on each sale. With adwords you might spend 30 bucks (0.50 for click) for a sale but now you know that 60 visitors get you sale. And now it's time to get the natural traffic and make some real money. Adwords if a good tool for testing but you might have to spent some money to learn more about your site.

remember with low quality score you have to change the site, keywords and ad text but if you can do those just rise the bid :)

    Good luck.

Your landing page should be simple and easy to navigate, but that doesn't mean you can't satisfy Google. Just make sure you include a few little bits and Google won't have a problem:

Include a bit of text that's relevant to your advert.

Make It easy for the customer to find the product (ideally send them straight to it).

Tell them who you are and what your business does.

    Include a privacy policy.

    Make sure paying is secure.

Don't mess around: No pop-ups, registering, changing settings etc.

That should be enough to gain a decent rating with Google and keep your site
simple. Check out Google Adwords Help for more info.

Google does not care if the page is simple and has little to no text. What they care about are the basics including privacy policy and etc...

You have just have an image a sentance the basic off pages and still get a GREAT QS.

What they dont want is for you to bid on cell phone and send the traffic to a jewelry site. Irrelevant and unclear promotional message from keywords, text ads, and landing pages is what mostly gets people slapped.
