I'm new at Clickbank. So I understand that lots of people seem to want to create landing pages. I always thought I could just use the landing page provided by the seller... That way I don't have to do so much work. They're the ones bragging about how great their product is. I tried selling a top payout of 70% deal on Clickbank. (spyware removal) They talk about how great their "conversion rate" is on their sales page. I set up my adwords url to a cloaking page which cloaked the affiliate url and redirected the user from my site to the seller's site. I used the cloaking script from Clickbank. I did this because per Google's terms of service, only one actual url may point to the seller's main site from your adwords ad. So, I made my little cloaking page which just redirects the user from my site to the sellers. I put in some meta tags at the top. I got 33k impressions but only one sale out of 16 clicks I think. I made a whopping $13 but the cost in clicks was only about $3 and I had my bids at no great then .10 click. So is it better to create an actual landing page with my own words and text and not just redirect to the seller's page? It seems that, if that's all one does, my page is just a static page, and it would have a link to the seller's site. Maybe they click it, maybe they don't. At least my idea gets them to the seller's page automatically. Isn't this the better way to go? Haven't most sellers already tested multiple sales pages and found what works best for their product? Why do I need to reinvent the wheel and create another landing page? Thanks for your ideas.
Landing pages are the way to go. You want to presell your visitors. You should be very happy getting 1 sale out of 16 clicks, converting well if it keeps up
Thanks, I think that's probably right. I guess I'll just test everything out and talk honstly about which worked the best and why. Is it a good idea to mention that you can make money with the product on the landing page?
Hey scking, you made $13 and spent only $3. That's a great conversion, congratulations. However, you should wait the number of clicks to get higher to get a better indication. See how much sales for 100 clicks. But still, 1 sale from 16 visits is really high. You said you had 33k impressions, do you have the content network turned on ? if so, you should be able to see if your ads get clicks from it or not. If you get your clicks only from the search network then turn the content network off. Also do some split testing and see if you can rise this conversion rate up. (Oh sorry, you're new to clickbank, maybe you are a AdWords master ). I agree with dcristo about landing pages. Again test your adwords with and without landing page, and track results.
It is usually better to make a landing page and presell the product. Having your own landing page also allows you to capture visitors emails in a mailing list - for future marketing, and also allows you to set yourself apart from all your other competitors by offering bonuses or complimentary products when they purchase. You can split test landing pages as well as ad text. Often merchants do have very good sales pages, but you can get visitors even more "eager" and in the buying mood if you presell first.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will try creating a few landing pages and see how that goes. I just finally paid my adwords bill and I'm starting a new campaign. I find it really necessary to tweak the bids to get onto the first page. I'm up at .75 click which is a bit high. I've heard about how all the pros get their clicks around .10. I think that one sale might have just been a fluke.
I think the landing page is much better too from own learning experience. What I realize is if you have good information on the product type that helps a lot especially with people bookmarking your page.
I go with a landing page 9 times out of 10. You have alot more control over the first experience of the visitors that you payed for rather than relying on what another webmaster thinks is best. As mentioned above, you can build motivation to buy before your visitors hit the landing page. Also, as a general rule Google doesn't like redirects. You may find your cpc is higher with a redirect than if you set up your own landing page. If redirect is working for you though, test it against a full landing page and see how it goes. You're right 'no point reinventing the wheel,' but remember that different markets react differently. Tried and tested techniques are a great place to start, but don't dismiss ideas just because they aren't effective in another market. All the best, congrats on the early sales!
There are some click bank products that have excellent sales page, then i don't think there is a need of separate landing page.
I think in general a landing page is an absolute must. However, some people do make decent cash on non-competitive keywords, it's just quite a bit tougher without a pre-sell.
Yes, like others have pointed out... Having a landing page instead of a straight redirect to the merchant is a must. You have a higher chance of making the sales by pre-selling the prospects on your landing page. In addition, always go for the Firstname and Email. With this, you can follow up with them in future and also promote related products.
Yes a landing is best, especially to catch the email address of the people you've paid for to visit your site....you can always try to sell them on to other items using an Autoresponder.
