I'm getting started with Adwords and I'm going to start promoting some Clickbank Products. I already know everything there is about selecting keywords...etc. Although, I'm unsure if I will get better results with creating my own landing page or directly linking. I already can make web pages...etc so it wouldn't be a problem, but will it be worth the time + money? Its going to be my first campaign...so I already 'think' it wont go as good as I hope it will but I'm still going to give it my best shot
Definitely landing pages are the way forward - that way you're 'master of your own destiny' - essentially you'll be able to test better and respond to any data properly. You should also be able to get a better Quality Score as long as you create good landing pages - meaning phrases will cots you less...
Landing pages are used to pre-sell the product which in many niches will give you a higher conversion rate once they click through to the offer. Good landing pages relate to the offer page visually and contain USPs and similar content, create a flow between the two sites and the visitor won't have alarm bells ringing. Research your niche for ideas on LPs (just don't click the ads).
I guess it depends on the company and product you are promoting. Some products have great landing pages which can convert great. Other on the other hand could use some optimization of the conversion process. If I were you, I would run a test with direct linking and a landing page you have created which will give you a bit more control.
if you have extra budget i would recommend you to use professional service to make converting landing page. Or you can also make your own using wordpress, there's some good templates for landing page you can search on there database. just google it and you might find some that you like. then from there you must always test if you still want to do direct linking or using landing page. there's no exact answer in affiliate marketing. it all depends on your traffic source and offer. btw, if you're going to use adwords i don't think you will get far with direct linking. with google, they don't like redirect pages
Just to comment here: some of my best money-making campaigns are direct-linking campaigns which run for month now. I actually think it's a good way to test offers. But I think the particular one you mentioned wont work on Google
Thanks everyone for your inputs. I've already started a campaign (direct linking) just to learn the basics of using it, I just can't believe that with 2k impressions, I got only 1 click :/ I guess its better for me to make these mistakes now than later. I'm also preparing to use my own landing page, since I also want to focus on getting traffic from SEO + other sites. I have a question, should I promote more than one product in the same landing page (same niche)? Is this better performing or not? PS: I'm still looking for a good landing page to see...as an example...
Hi, I would go with your own landing page as it gives you a better control of your campain. You can pm me if you need help (free) to start it. Guyco
Just test both, direct linking can be profitable. Everybody says landing pages convert better but, in my experience I've only had the opposite results. I've been more successful with direct linking but, I'm sure it's since I didn't split-test my landing pages enough. I'm not a web designer so every time I want to split-test a landing page I have to pay somebody to work on it. So, I always start by testing with direct linking if I see results then I'll invest into getting landing pages etc..
Hmm, that's what I was exactly thinking about, so I understand now you can get results without a landing page, using ppc, direct linking. That's something nice to hear for me.
With 2k impressions and only 1 click I'm 99.99% sure that you have the content network switched on (it is automatically set to 'On') - the content network is generally rubbish, and even when you get traffic they're usually very low converters - I'd switch off content network and concentrate on search
Well I thought landing pages was the way to go too, but I found (in my particular niche) that linking straight to the sales page resulted in better sales ratio. Visitors just didn't want to go through two seperate sales pages just to make a purchase, it gave them twice the opportunities to click the back button, rather than just the one bang in your face do or die sales pitch. Just my 2p's worth
