Hi guys, I'm wondering whether it'd be worth trialling potential customers going straight to my 'apply online' (from the google click) which has very little text on it to see if I can get more conversions that way? My google ads tell them exactly what will be happening and it *may* cut down on the mucking about when all I want them to do is fill in the form anyway! I know it flies in the face what should happen but wondered if it was worth a shot with my best converting keywords? Has anyone else tried this and got any good results? Thanks!
Yeah...I've tried that on my squeeze page & its not worth...as the min bid will be $5 even for non-competitive keywords. I even enquired about this issue with Google's own Adwords expert & they told me that a Landing page directly asking for sign-up without much info will not get good quality score & tht's the reason for a min. bid of $5. Anyways you can still try...as you can never be sure with Adwords ever changing policies. Let me know your results!
Thanks guys for the $5 heads up - I don't want to go anywhere near that at all so will avoid this 'idea'. Regards.
I'll still suggest you to give it a try....just try setting up a test campaign for this for just one of your keywords...it'll not take more than 15 mins and if min. bid is too high then you can just delete the campaign. Adwords is all about testing, tweaking & optimizing your keywords, ad copy & landing page. Also as an application developer I can assure you that these kind of application can never be 100% accurate. There are always few bugs, flaws, loopholes etc.(although adwords is quality application & 80-90% bug-free). So there is no harm in giving it a shot and do let us all know your results.
Thanks UniSol, I'm a bit worried about getting clobbered though! I guess I could pause my keyword and add another campaign with it in, deleting if neccesary if it doesn't work out like you say
