LAMP server UBUNTU DOMAIN NAME problem

    Hi!

I have a LAMP server on my ubuntu, and I also bought a domain name. Let's call it for simplicities sake: www.asd.com , and the Ip address of my server is 85.228...

The only settings that worked in the control panel for the domain at the company where I bought it were a single standard forward, which transformed www.asd.com into the ip address, and then /.contant.html and so on. What shall I do to set up a thing called Cname or Aname record? I heard that by doing so I can make the domain always be visiable.

In effect, upon entering www.asd.com the user would see still www.asd.com, which would not be changed into the IP address, and same thing goes for links inside the webpage - they'd be www.asd.com/contact.html

How do I do this? Help me please!

    Konrad

Let me see if I understand. So when you open your domain in the web browser, it turns into an ip address in the browser?

If the domain asd.com works fine and when www.asd.com is accessed the URL changes to the IP, make sure you have added a CNAME for the www record i.e. in the DNS zone file of the domain, the www entry should be as follows:
