I have noticed an increase in the amount of free bonuses that people are now giving away in order to get people to purchase products. Is it just me, or is it getting a bit ridiculous? I am a firm believer in getting what you pay for, and if a product is good, then I am quite willingly to pay for it (even if nothing else is given away with it). These old marketing tricks (and they are old) are being overused and becoming less effective. To make matters worse, quite often the bonuses can be found all over the net. How many bonuses is too many? If you offer too many bonuses, doesn't it devalue your own product? It doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence when a person offers a huge amount of bonuses with their product. It smacks of desperation to me. I would rather buy one quality product with no bonuses, than a product with 10+ low quality bonuses. What are your thoughts on this matter? I would also like to know where people come up with the value of their free bonuses? I own a lot of marketing products (including Make Your Price Sell), but it seems like some people just pluck numbers out of thin air. Of course, they all end in the magic number '7' of course (i.e $47, $97, $197, etc...). Boy, would I laugh if the Internet Marketers suddenly decided to end all their prices with the number '3'. The stampede of wannabe marketers rushing to change the prices on their sales pages would be hysterical. I agree with copying something if it works, but how about some originality. I thought the 'Rich Jerk' sales letter was a refreshing change and made me laugh. So, I for one will be moving away from the standard sales letters and trying something new from now on.
