l i s t y o s h i t . com - Is this too adult or can it work as an Ebay alternative?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by PioneerGold, Jun 13, 2012.

Got sick and tired of dealing with Ebay's fees, so wanted to try my hand at some kind of product listing site.

Came up with this name because it seems memorable and gets to the point fairly quickly.

Any thoughts on whether this is a good domain name for what I am trying to do?

I doubt a name with vulgarities in it will become as mainstream as eBay.

Personally I like it. But if you would like your website to get 100% of the market audience it deserves, then it's a bad idea to risk alienating even a small percentage of people who object to "vulgarities". Who knows what percentage of people would be turned off by the "shit" in ListYoShit? But somebody somewhere would be. (It's difficult to imagine my parents, for example, telling their friends about ListYourShit dot com.) And you could have these people as customers if you pick a different name.

I may have some options for you if you want to PM me.

    you will be wasting your time promoting l i s t y o s h i t till someone decide it is a good idea and develops l i s t y o u r s h i t
if you wont to invest your time, get a unique name without any misspellings!

I wouldn't consider it a misspelling. It's dialect slang, and people would be able to talk about it and understand how it would be spelled just fine. Personally, I have YoThang dot com, which is in a similar vein -- and not a typo for "your thing".

But my earlier recommendation to choose a different name for an ecommerce site still stands.

we are talking about mass market, you don't want explain to grandma why it needs to be typed 31i73sh17.com and not how it is pronounced (i.e. elite s h i t dot com)

Will never be an ebay competitor, but it could work very well all the same - it's a good domain.

what I am saying is that your domain is superior quality than yo domain, and developing the yo version is just like developing .net or .org without owning .com
