This is the first major mainstream site I've seen using phpbb! http://forums.kylie.com/ maybe she couldn't afford vbulletin?
Clearly thats not the issue, she is not in charge of such things. Firstly she has her marketer that hires a web savvy tech person to run a forum moderate etc whatever he/she needs to do. A certain amount is given to them to make this function all together. Depending on how the tech person chooses to use the money is up to him. Maybe he/she wanted to save some money for themselves and got themselves phpbb running instead of Vbulletin. Cuts the expenses etc. Nothing absolutely to do with Kylie, i am sure she doesn't even know that forum exists.
First they are charging her with free phpBB ... then charging her for modding it ...... then for removing spam ...... a long term contract is established Vbullettin Sucks
I am not aware of your thoughts, but phpBB can be as good as vB if you know the way to mod it. phpBB is a great forum system with a large userbase, lots of themes and modifications available to finetune your forum! However, I'm a vB user, I run and manage my forum(s) on vBulletin. I am going to give phpBB3 a try for a new project. Meti
It's her OFFICIAL forum Kylie and her team have even recently decided to start their own social network haha.. i was being sarcastic.. but maybe you're being serious Clearly cost could not have been a factor here regardless of who was trying to save. What's interesting is that with the cost factor taken out, a big site has decided to go with phpBB over paid alternatives.
Your assumption here of course is that someone who was tech savvy and experienced decided to use phpbb over the other forums. It was more likely someone who saw a pretty forum that was being run on phpbb and said "We want something like that", not taking into account anything else.
Why should she endorse VBulletin? If VB wants to PAY HER, then maybe she would use it. I am sure she does
