Wanted to know your opinions here:

The issue is about 2 related KWs that form a known searched KeyPhrase

From a purely marketing and seo point of view, which of the following examples works best:

digital.point .com ( a subdomain of point. com)
    digital-point .com
    digitalpoint .com

Consider the SERPS implications, credibilty/clickabilty factor, brand recognition issue, flexibilty or any other factor

Which would be your overall choice?

From a purely seo point of view, digital-point.com would be your best choice. (assuming the phrase "digital point" is the term your targetting)

marketing & seo are kinda different.

marketing also implies "offline" promotion - dashes & sub-domains NOT SO GOOD.
seo - i still like digitalpoint.com (search engines can "see" those KWs)

ALL things considered (long term, long run... digitalpoint.com!)

    IMHO ;)

If I'm going to market the domain I'd use "digitalpoint .com". If most of my traffic is going to come from search engines, I'd use "digital-point .com".

Although not much traffic comes from it, MSN recogized the keywords in one of my domains with a top 5 position for "digital-point .com" almost immediately.

My top ranking website has a domain name that is irrelevant to the topic.

SEO in the broader sense is much more than just what SEs can interperate as separate keywords in tne URL. When getting links to your site, you'll often have webmasters linking to your normal URL. On these occassions, its very advantageous having a hyphenated keyword domain.

Search engines can generally split up words in the domain. I would go with 'digitalpoint.com' but buy digital-point.com anyway. ;)

contrary to many opinions here, I personally prefer the easy to read formats (I personally see no real advantage in having it all in one word - maybe prestige?)

    Thus:
    digital.point .com
    digital-point .com

However in terms of flexibility, I like the idea of being able to form a number of subdomains with realted terms thus, for example

    digital.point .com
    analogue.point .com
    binary.point .com
    etc

which I think if used correctly, the overall SERPs can be boosted considerably.

So my overall choice (out of the above shortlist) would be the subdomain version

    digital.point .com

    IMHO

That would be point.com and the 'digital' part would be a subdomain.

So you would end up with digital.digital-point.com analog.digital-point.com binary.digital-point.com

Dashes and hyphens are used to seperate the words, it seems you are getting the 2 confused.

yes, I meant the subdomain of point .com as in the first option of the original post.

This would be my overall "winner".

well Domain name is a very small issue while talking about SEO,
and having a - is also not a big issue.
i have a website with no standard keyword in its name and a - also. but it is doing very fair in both google/MSN and good enuff in yahoo too
listed in top 10 for more than 20 main kewords and under 50 for almost 150 keywords.
