Korea Orders AdSense Contract Rewrite

I cam across a very interesing article at The Register in which the South Korean Fair Trade Commission has given Google 60 days to rewrite sections of its AdSense user agreement. Google had refused to pay a South Korean AdSense revenue because of suspicious activity.

    The link is here:

Is this the start of something?

I am glad that South Korea has stood up to Google. Parts of the AdSense contract are unfair especially when Google confiscates all AdSense funds when closing an account.

At the very least Google should pay out a portion of what the site derived during those two months before closing the account. You cannot tell me that 100% of the income was derived via click fraud. Besides, Google approved these people in the first place!

Confiscating the revenue already earned is definetly a bad thing. They should at least provide proof that you did something wrong

For publishers, we say "confiscate", but for Google, they say "refund back to advertisers".

I doubt if they're going to change anything for one country. And besides, South Korea is the last country to talk about "fair trade". They nearly obliterated their own economy in the '90s by their awful ideas of "fair trade".

Google is a voluntary program. They're not an Army invading your country. If you don't want to work with them, you are free to leave and join someone else. No one needs to "stand up" to them. Take it or leave it or go work in a bakery, otherwise stop your whining. This is business, the real world, not Fantasyland.

To a point I agree with what you are saying. However, all businesses are subject to local government authorities. South Korea can set whatever parameters they choose and Google can choose to work with them or leave. Oddly, didn't Google cave into China's restrictions when deciding to offer their search engine there?
