KONTERA SUCKS: After 7-Months Earning 71 Dollars with Half Million Net Impressions!

In essence, his high traffic and pgeviews notwithstanding, Kontera is not performing for John Chow too. Definitely, that $1,000 include referral income from the hundreds of bloggers he has sent to Kontera.

I wonder why John "banned" Google from his blog because it hovers around $1,000 monthly, just like Kontera, Kontera should have been banned along with it.

 

could be because kontera guarantees the income, guaranteed income being far more valuable than possible income. but i would definitely see that as a sign kontera is underperforming.

 

Well for me personally Kontera has been performing quite nicely. Got a much much better CTR than with adbrite (even though both are low).

Earned almost $180 in the three and a half weeks I've been using them. 795,000 impressions.

Josh that is the crux of the matter... "too low..." For that same impression, Google, Voxant Newsroom and Intellitext would give you triple that income. your case is however passable, if you don't want to give room to other better performing networks. $200 is fair enough monthly from Kontera as a supplementary income to other stream of earnings from your site, I should give your site a study and learn from you.

The danger and the illusion of a constant income of a thousand dollars monthly by John Chow from Kontera could mislead many publishers to think Kontera is a model income earner. His is just a 'show-glass' by the smart Kontera people. I agree with your summary for Kontera: UNDERPERFORMED!

 

Kontera has been a bust for me to be honest, I have it on one of my blogs set to show after a post is 30 days old, but I'm only hanging in there to reach the $100 payout. After that (unless it starts performing!) it's gone.

what, My little site got into kontera without being joel's or John's referral.

But Out of 3,600 impressions I got 33 cents from 10 clicks.
Thats about 10 cents eCPM... >.>

I don't you think you can expect alot from inline text ads. All they do is turn some random keywords on your site into low CPC ads. (Which are good for some advertisers getting some garbage traffic for pennies) Thats why you won't get no high paying clicks from this.
The traffic advertisers get from thies ads have probably a high bounce rate. Its really untargeted and often the clicks are accidental becuase there mistaken as links.

 

I find Kontera to also be a low payer. Has anyone combined it with other programs? I wonder if it detracts from other programs run at the same time?

konteras pay is low. and yeah john chow earns more than 1000 $ per month, he has some patnership with kontera i guess.

 

Odd. 500,000 of my page views bring in approximately $1000 from Kontera, and I don't have any special arrangement. Maybe contact them if see if there is something you can do to improve site targeting. It may be that it just isn't a good fit for your audience, but I can say from experience that it does pay for some sites... just like Chitika works better on some sites than others.

So, you're going to pull Kontera. What are going to put in its place? The way I see it you've made $71 more than you would without Kontera. So unless you're going to replace it with something else you could make $71 less next time round. Maybe $71 is little but its $71 for having a few lines of code on your web pages.

If someone knows of a similar in-text ad system that's better than Kontera, let me know.

 

I have many other ad networks on my blog, less kontera is better than the 7-month burden of kontera. I cannot quantify how many visitors sent to kontera that have been disillusioned. I treasure my visitors more than any ad networks.

$71 of Kontera is nothing compared to the $5,000 I have made from other ad networks in the same period. I am currently averaging $1,000 monthly minus kontera.

Intellitext is far superior earner than kontera.

 

i would like to differ, of course kontera pays lesser than adsense, almost say around 1/3 rd of the adsense revenue, but with three websites displaying kontera its giving me a decent income alongwith adsense of course

 

Joel, you left me gapping with profound shock, when you wrote that you don't have any "special arrangement" with Kontera. With your indisputable records of marketing and affiliate dexterity, wouldn't want to conclude that you "left money on Kontera's table".

You referred hundreds or possibly thousands of your "friends" like me to Kontera without any mutual financial remuneration? Well, John Chow did not do his for free.

Your statement about Kontera's earnings of $1,000 for half million page impressions is awesome, that is a "Sacred Cow" earnings from kontera. Few earn such from her. Maybe it is an indirect appreciation from Kontera for the publicity you showered on her. I remembered that you even wrote a book on how to optimize websites for higher Kontera incomes.

 

I have a standard affiliate arrangement with Kontera regarding my referrals, so I definitely took money off the table. What I was referring to was that I didn't have any preference to the ads that were delivered or the value per click.

In my experience, Kontera is one the worst of the AD partners we’ve ever worked with. Right now they are tanking with pay outs down over 60% this year. They have very poor targeting. They ran Ford truck ads on our movie site that upset our readers. On top of that they are short on inventory and even if you have the traffic they cannot pay for it. We found them to be pretty sneaky. When we threatened to leave about the above problems, they scrambled to give us a better rev share, but they shorted us on inventory. We got paid less than before on more traffic. Finally when we demanded they let us out of agreement for the reasons above, they refused and will not send our final payments.

Do yourself a favor. Sign up with Chitika or Vibrant Media. You’ll get a good rate, targeted ads your readers appreciate and as much inventory as you can sell.

 

Scam piece of sh$t. I earned 90$ in 1 month and now they banned my access.

 

Let see how they going to pay me. I just started my account.
