I have been promoting a single product now for just over a week, before I picked four or five to start with but found the work load impossible as I was still learning and just starting out. I have had about 275 views of my articles in total (7 articles) and 80 of those url clicked. No sales yet. I have been sending 6 out of 7 articles via a squidoo page. Not too sure if this is normal or not but I am thinking of finding a new product to promote. What would you guys suggest? maybe some sort of checklist I could check through? thanks
Yeah, what I thought. But I think it has something to do with something else. Getting ranked on google was a bit of a problem. Best list I got was bottom of page six :-/
Yes, I think the one thing I really need to get the hang of is getting ranked and social bookmarking. All the 'best' social bookmarking sites call my stuff spam and the ones that I do end up having to use I don't even know if they are working!
If you are referring to the 80 clicks from your articles going to your squidoo landing page, then how many hops are you getting to the product you are promoting from the squidoo page?
I would wait until you had at least 500 or more hops. I promoted a product last month and had about 400 hops for it with no sales then 4 sales came in on the next 100 hops. Not too bad for 57 dollars commension. As long as it converts for other affilates than you should have no problem getting a sale.
geterrdone raises a good point and a good question to ask ... what kind of gravity does the product have? also, are you using the right keywords ... keywords that attract buyers rather than non-buyers?
Only blogs or articles can't make sales, if God bless you, then you can. Do some SEO to drive traffic, you need to invest first then come the earnings.
reading about exact numbers is very helpful, when i had absolutely no concept of what number guidelines to follow. Thanks for your discussion, guys.
I think its different. With PPC, its got to do with your budget. I can only stress the importance of Natural SEO.
I am glad someone asked this question as I am struggling with it as well. I am promoting a product and have had 196 hops without a sale. Most all of the traffic to my site is coming from Google with the keywords I was targeting. I have been thinking about putting Adsense on the site so I can at least maybe cover my domain fee and hosting.
Number of clicks is nice and all, but I could 500 clicks for a weight loss product...and if the clicks are coming from an article that says "How to Take Amazing Digital Pictures" then I can't possibly hope to have a high conversion! Look at the pre-sell as much as the actual product...one might be countering the other (expectations vs results)
Yeah 150 is actually the number that I look up to, if no sales until there, just get a new one. But these days, it's a sale every 15 hops or so. Once you get the hang of how to select the right product to promote your time will start earning you a heck of a lot more money.
