Try using Joomla, and look at their extensions page at joomla.org There are lots of photo gallery extensions, and in general, you can tell the quality by the reviews.

When I was installing Drupal not too long ago, I ran across Gallery 2 and it looks pretty cool. I was not able to get it running with Drupal, but it works fine standalone. You can find it at: gallery . menalto . com/
