You folks know what is Knol! If not read it here: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/encouraging-people-to-contribute.html Well, I just registered this domain www-knol.com
Why did you reg a name with a hyphen after "www"? I don't get it... People type a dot "." after www and not a hyphen "-"! e.g. www.digitalpoint.com and NOT www-digitalpoint.com Don't expect to get any type-in traffic from this name... sorry! :/ There's already another thread on "Googlepedia": http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=601800
If the word "knol" become a branded name and very popular as "blog" or "wiki" you still think this domain is worthless? I dont think so. Whatever, 7 bucks is not that much to worry about.
Even if it becomes popular you won't get type in traffic, and people are less likely to remember it with a hyphen at the beginning. I'd say its worth reg fee, but like you say $7 is nothing
Hi olti, I didn't say your name is worthless. On the contrary... I was referring to type-in traffic only, and I still insist that you won't get any massive NATURAL type-in traffic from your name, as most people will type www.knol.com and not www.www-knol.com. Your name, however, is brandable, and if Google uses "knol" as their official name for Googlepedia, then your name will be worth much more than reg fee-that's for sure! E.g. Well-known terms like the ones you've mentioned above, ("blog" and "wiki"), with the same pattern as your domain (www-blog.com and www-wiki.com) are already registered and active websites and that means something... Hope I made myself clear on this. I didn't mean to offend you in ANY way. Good luck with it!
If you were hoping for type-in traffic, wwwknol.com would've been better, but I presume that it was taken, that's why you took the hyphen one. I would say reg fee max, unless you get traffic & revenue.
waste of cash.. and if Knol takes off, google can just order you to GIVE it to them.. so you make jack...
