knockoff - Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan Genuine Article: Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan Retail Price: $28,000-$55,000 Next best thing: A Geely Merrie. This shameless Chinese knockoff of a German classic incorporates some of the same designs as a C-class and, though somewhat smaller, is nearly identical in the nose and tail. You can get the Merrie for between $10k and $11k, a steal compared to the pound of flesh a real C-class costs. A legal adaptation of the Merrie, the provocatively named Freedom Cruiser, debuted at the Detroit Auto Show early this year, and sports the same Benz-like features as its black market predecessor. Geely plans to market the Freedom Cruiser in Puerto Rico in 2008, with mainland availability soon to follow. Provided your gold-digging squeeze doesn't notice the different logo on the hood, you'll be ridin' dirty in no time. Legality: Iffy. The Geely is a tricky case. Technically, as long as they don't attempt to pass their model off as a Mercedes they're in the clear. But Benz could still make a case that the Merrie is stealing creative property in the form of design—and, if the Freedom Cruiser is marketed in the United States, odds are they will. More Geely Pics
That has more of a Nissan Sentra look to it. I've seen Hyundai's that for a moment I thought was a german taxi...I mean a Benz and Lexus has some models that say Design by Xerox. I don't think Daimler Chryler will make a stink about a Freeedom car made with semi-slave communist labor.
really? you don't see it? I mean aside from the front end they look pretty close to me; at least enough to mention them in context of our little discussion here. the rims on the knock off look really cheap too maybe that's it. maybe I'm just not familiar with the Benz to begin with. Let's see a side by side of that and your white one here.
And here's a Chinese Rolls Royce. Just as good and it isn't even a Volkswagen. Rolls Royce $150,000 on up Egg Rolls $12,000 to 15,000
totally different, the headlights and grill and back lights, and side...only similarity is the length
I said aside from the front end. so what, just b/c it has slick headlights and grill w/e, I'm calling ugly regardless of what it does or does not resemble
It reminds me of one of those economy Asian cars with a little bit of Relient K and Merkur XR4Ti (shown):
cool, its just like owning a $5 TAG watch from Bali, thats worth $15k. Only problems is that the watch falls apart after 5 minutes,
