Hello, I've been trying to get the #1 spot for a few search terms for awhile now, and basically, I want to try and beat the band for their search term (a musical band), and I've tried to do it for over a year now, and I just cannot get to #1. I currently float from #3, and #4, to #4, and #5 for the search term: Coheed and Cambria Here is some information on my website, and my competitor: URL Backlinks Pagerank Pages in URL Date www.cobaltandcalcium.com Google 920 5 2,430 Nov 14, 2005 www.coheedandcambria.com Google 432 6 43,100 Nov 14, 2005 ^-- Backlink tracker from DP.com, but when I go to google.com, and type in: site:www.cobaltandcalcium.com it says: Results 1 - 10 of about 43,800 from cobaltandcalcium.com for . (0.22 seconds) for site:www.coheedandcambria.com it says: Results 1 - 10 of about 69,500 from www.coheedandcambria.com for . (0.67 seconds) That's a big increase in pages they have indexed by google from my site, but the thing is what I think is killing me is this: I have noticed I am getting nailed on pretty much what the weight on those index pages are. On most, there is no title, and no description, the title just gets spit out as a URL, and not the actual title, like: "Cobalt and Calcium: The Coheed and Cambria Forum", like how the title on the page actually is when you visit it. I have a very active forum board, usually 110+ during peak times, over 10,000 members, and 220110 posts. I was just wondering what I can do to take the #1 spot, because their official site takes the #1 and #2 spot on every search engine pretty much, due to them having a flash intro page, and then the index2.html page, and it's pretty annoying. I mean, if you guys think it's my forum board that isn't SEO friendly, I will migrate to vBulletin. Most of you guys seem to know what you're doing, and I've been reading this board for awhile now, and I really value your opinions. Thanks.
I know they rule. I'm not trying to take the #1 spot from them with a crappy site. We are actually the unofficial fansite for coheed and cambria. we offer over 7 gigs of downloads of live audio/video/interviews, etc, you name it. This is a very good, quality website.
If you don't know about my site, I doubt you know much about the band. We work very close with the band on this website.
I'm a music fan...don't really use the site Wouldn't consider myself a groupie either lol. But I think just of principle, I'd like the official band site to come up first
Kinda hard to be a groupie if I've never any of them. I wish to get into the music business, and this is a step in the door that I want to take. I market the band with this website in a professional manner. I'm glad we're discussing this whole groupie thing on a SEO forum. I'll take my thoughts and questions somewhere else I guess. Bye
