Hello Friends,
I have been wanting to start a classifieds site for the indian market and for indians in other countries, finally found a good script but as usual all the good names are gone. I was thinking of using sunil.org Sunil being a very common name in india, like (mike or david in the U.S) I personally am reluctant as it is .org, Please share your thoughts.

I've seen .orgs and .nets do better than some .coms, so IMO the TLD (top-level domain) doesn't make much of a difference. If sunil is that common, grab the .org and run with it.

 

craigslist.org has been very succesful here in the states. Try to learn from their model.

 

Try to grab the Indian ccTLDs, (in & .co.in), they might be available because the ccTLD is not very old.

 

Agree about choosing an Indian ccTLDs, specially because you want to reach the Indian market.

However also agree with ORG domain names for this venture, keeping in mind the model suggested by Bilz.

That will eb a good idea as you will not be targeting beyond India

 

do good promotions, yes local domains mite do good as well..
although its a .org but its one word domain
so mite be will work for u.
