Kindly Suggest A Good Web Host

    Hi

Kindly suggest a good web host.

Currently I am using shared hosting with www.infrenion.com, with 4GB space and 140GB bandwidth (which I have rarely been able to utilize fully). I have one primary and around 15 add on domains, but only 5 of them are full fledged sites, rest all are just added but not fully working.

I purchased traffic from a fellow DP member a couple of days back. The site went down as soon as the traffic started, the last I saw it was 169 members online. On raising the issue with the web host, they suggested that I upgrade to VPS ($44/mo) or dedicated server ($149/mo) package, which seems too costly to me. I also wanted to know how many people could be online at any given point of time, given the constraints of my account but they were either unable to provide or chose to ignore, just gave illusive answers instead.

Have tried searching for web hosts, but everybody claims to be the best. Had contacted hostgator, and they seemed to be a good choice. One benefit the have is help in transferring the existing content, which could be quite a headache if I have to reinstall or transfer myself. Would be grateful if you could suggest some good and reliable web host, with live chat feature, and with a reasonable cost.

I need to switch over to another host as early as possible to avoid server too busy issues. Also, want to be able to utilize the traffic already paid for.

    Thanks
    Anil Pandey

169 members are not really much, depending on the content of your sites (e.g. blog, forum)

You can try the host in my signature, it has live chat and phone support, instant setup and the price is reasonable too.

100s of clients are happy with iwebhostu - So I suggest you to choose them.. You have to find some reliable and affordable.. :) Hostgator is the worst choice - Read this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1926836 - Hostgator down on several countries and get bad OUTAGE !

You can't tell anything from visitor numbers. 169 may not seem much, but if you're using free scripts (Wordpress, Joomla etc with lots of add-ons) or badly written code, even this number of visitors can end up using excessive resources. We have a customer with over 2.6million hits a day but the code is so efficient it wouldn't even register as "excessive resources" on a shared account (they have a dedicated server). Another customer with 10% of the traffic maxes out a quad-core server with 16GB of ram and RAID10 drives. It's all down to the code efficiency and how well the application is written.

Can you tell me what kind of site you hosted there?

    Is it forum?

Many host does provide a free transfer from your old host to new host.

I think that could be good idea as well to ask some suggestions from your current web hosting provider. They might be able to recommend you the best solution in your case.
