Hi, I'm buying a dedicated server, but this is my first experience with this. I'd appriciate if someone can please shed some light on this: 1> I have a domain name and want to use it as Name server. How do I set this up? If needed, I'll get a new domain. I will be running multiple sites on this server, so will need this properly setup as all domains will use this name server. NS1.mydomain.com NS2.mydomain.com Please help with this. Thanks
Do you have any controlpanel that comes with your dedicated server? If it is your first time, I would recommend getting one from your provider, Cpanel, Directadmin for Linux, Hosting Controller, Helm for Windows would definitely lighten up your load. For nameservers, register the nameservers with your registrar and add in your dedicated server DNS, hopefully with a controlpanel.
Pick 1 or 2 (2 is better for good performance) IPs from your IP list..Then open your domain control panel and register two nameservers with that IPs..Then all you need to do is adding these nameservers to your DNS server. You can do it via your control panel.
Hi, I think I'll get "plesk" control panel. Will it be ok, or should I go for CPanel? I'm quite used to CPanel/whm... To bturkay: I have "child Name server" option in my domain panel. Is this same thing? How do I add IP to DNS server? Should it be done by server control panel (plesk/cpanel)? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm completely new to this, and also unable to find any documentation about all this... Thank you so much for your time and help
