We've all seen the posts where DP vets express disgust at the new members (source): Personally, I don't think it would be hard to get rid of all the stupid threads and all the "I agree" posts, and "PM Sent" posts... First, figure out why people make these posts. Then, what can be done to stop it. Build post count to sell signature links I think a lot of new users that post "PM Sent", or go to the introductions thread and post "Welcome", are just doing it to pad their post count. How do we stop it? If the veteran DP posters, with tons of posts starting offering their sig links dirt cheap, it would kill the sig link market... Why would a person buy a sig link from someone will 1k posts for $10, when they could buy a link from someone with 5k posts for $10... The sig link sales are in a free market, if you flood that market, it will drive down the demand... Create threads to profit from revenue sharing I know it's a great way to get new people to post here, and has been featured online and in magazines, but I think it's attracting people that honestly believe they can make a ton of money online, and are willing to spam the forum to try... Why is this a problem? These people start threads like "What time do you wake up in the morning?" and "What's ur Fav Hot Drink?"... And sure, it's fun to answer them sometimes, but it's also encouraging the person to post more stupid threads... Also, people start threads like this when they should have just used the search feature instead... By replying, you're saying to the person "It's ok to not put effort into searching for answers, instead just ask every question that's already been asked"... How do we stop it? I'd suggest killing the revenue sharing program. Why not? Has anyone made more then a couple dollars? To me, the benefits seem twofold: DP might not need to ask for donations for new servers People would stop starting threads in hopes of making $0.03 off it Anyways, at the very least, please start reporting all the little "I agree" posts
