I have had bad experiences with hosting companies in the past and the people who I have spoken with would be classed as adults. Unfortunately they were about as helpful as a chocolate teapot. Age really is irrelevant. You're going to find some incredibly intelligent and helpful kids but you're also going to find some incredibly dumb and inarticulate adults.

    That's life.

the guy that hosts me is 15 years old :) and i have been with him 8 months now and no problem at all so far.... never seen school as a factor but i wouldn't have got web hosting from him if i new he was 15 at the time... if that makes sense :)

i think for a 15 year old to run a company you shouldn't know he is 15, nothing should suggest he is 15 and he should be mature.

Age doesn't matter. It's how he/she presents him/herself that counts. Maturity is the key here.

I don't see a kid running a hosting company as long as he's mature, trustworthy, and committed. Going to school and graduating doesn't mean you're worthy, as there are plenty of scammers and !diots.

However, would I sign up with them? No, because most have proven not to be capable.

But with web designing, coding, etc., I don't mind too much.

I started webhosting when I was 16, and I educate myself, and I don't think age matters at all, apart from experience.

I also know someone that is 16 right now that owns a webhosting company, and he has around 70 customers, on shared, reseller, and vps plans, and they are stable customers, so he must be doing something right.

AS long as the host is good i dont care how old they are. For all we know, a large hosting company could be run by a 15 year old, and we wouldn't know if they was or wasnt as this is the internet remember ;)

It's hard to trust your site with a 15 year old kid, yes I know some of them are mature here on DP. But you never know what happens, and it's hard to deal with them.

ive got no problem with it (being 16 myself) as long as he/she knows what shes doing..though i wouldnt do any business with them unless i was referred by someone with a positive experience, as many kids my age dont know what theyre doing

as long as they know how to run their business there shouldnt be any problem. doesnt come with age. comes with knowledge and skills. so what if the hosting company i use is owned by a 54 yr old man but he doesnt even know anything about it. see my point?

I have 3 servers myself, selling shoutcast servers. We can do everything fine because my friend is in the usa and he can do the maintainance in one timezone, and I the other. It works fine.

its pretty discriminatory to not use a hosting company because the owner is a teenager..just because were young doesnt mean that all of us are stupid..its a questions of competence and knowledge, and if teens meet those conditions than they should be treated just as adults with the same level of talent

In a lot of cases teenagers are better with new technology because we have grown up with it :).
