this child marriage is not just restricted to Islam or Hinduism, it prevails mostly in the un-educated parts of the countries, especially in developing and under-developed, it is said in some tribals around the world this system is still in place
I personally know few grown up ones, who had married when they were barely 10 - 12 yrs

Child marriage is a crime in any part of the world, may be u have to first learn to grow up.
The marriages which u r referring don't refer to having sex with animals, in hindu customs for some they feel their astrological data has some bugs (probs revealed usually by the astrologers), so it could be like, first living being to marry the girl/boy might die so they first marry them to an other living creature such as animals or some times even trees, no one harasses or does nasty towards these beings so u better not worry about it, once they are married, they go separate ways


My pt. is simple, this is still prevails in the un-educated sectors and only NGO's can try to educate them the good and bad - don't try to compare with baffling examples, if you are un-sure about the religion or rituals on the ground level.

it looks very weird for me. Everyone should decide for himself what he wants in his life, and at this age parents should take care of children but only relative to important things. Sometimes biological age doesn't matter but this is not the case definitely!
