Choose 3-4 keywords that you want to target within a page and make sure that you write content that relates to them. One good thing to do is to link to other pages with related content, and use those keywords as anchor text.

Content writing for SEO is tricky, but once you figure out the most important factors like:

    Choosing keywords
    - Relatedness of keywords
    Content
    - keywords at start and end
    - keyword density(becoming less important)
    Linking out
    - Anchor Texts
    - Outbound link #/weight
    - interlinking within your own site

There are arguably plenty of other factors- but this should get you started on some research.

No, choose 3-4 but make sure that you use related keywords.
Dont be afraid to use other keywords though.

I disagree. All that does is create better rankings for the pages you would link to. The goal is to get links to your page and if you can get them with the anchor text of your keywords, then you're that much better off. There is no evidence that linking out has any effect on a page's ranking in the serps. But there is plenty of evidence that links to a page have a very positive effect. (for this discussion, I'm not including bad neighborhoods in this thread)
