How do i select the best keywords (using the google tool or wordtracker) for writing meta tags? can anyone suggest the right guide that's easy and comprehensive. sasi
I'm a semi new at this but from what I have learnt so far putting keywords in meta tags is not the most important thing although you should still do it because it can only help. Make sure the keywords are in other important places like title and in the content. To select keywords I would say its a lot of trial and error. I have read a few ways to do it and there are many more ways I'm sure. I like to write down as many possible keywords as I can and then eliminate them one by one based on how competitive they are, how many people search on that keyword, etc. I try not to spend too much time on it though. Do research on it and try it out.
I think what you want to know is what keywords to rank for in your meta tags. If you have already some major and minor keywords, you can choose to optimzie for the major ones. They are what you want to rank for most. But it actually depends on the SE and even the niche.
Google doesn't consider meta keywords but you can place keywords in your meta description. First of all analyse your competitor, have a look what keywords they use. And use google adwords tool, where you can get lot of suggested keywords.
