Keywords Questions?

Hello. I am new to keywords. I am not going to ask for them for free or anything. Are these correct? (What I think keywords are and do.)

1) Keywords are the words that are typed in search engines and are searched the most about a niche.

2) By finding the most popular and powerful keywords, you can add them using many ways to a website, forums, blog etc.

3) The keywords will help your website, forum, blog, rank better in search engines. There fore bringing more traffic.

Are those correct?

funny their called keywords, probably 'search phrases' would be a more accurate description, as far as SEO.
