    Hey,

If I have a list of keywords I want to optimize, can I combine them into the same URL or will that negatively affect my rankings?

    Example:
    black dog
    black puppy

    into this URL: http://dogsite.com/black-dog-puppy.html

Would this make any difference if put together or kept separate?

    Thanks

I usually target multiple keywords with the same URL keyword, much the way you do if it were the home page.

    eg.. black-dog-puppy.com

but if I can't target the keyword with home page, and have to create separate pages, then it is better to main two separate pages.

    dogsite.com/black-dog.html
    and dogsite.com/black-puppy.html..

That will make the targeting more focussed and hence better Serp.

Anyway people are going to search for the two separately.

I'd also create More pages with
    black-labrador
    black-daschchund
    black-hound
    black-labrador-puppy etc etc

    Happy ranking.

If they are the same content you can do so, but if you could split them, go ahead and split them.
